We provide 24-hour coverage, seven days per week, through EMERCOMM,the Red Cross world wide emergency communication system. Volunteers have visited Fort Dix 4 to 6 times a month to give refreshments and a kind word to deploying and returning troops. We assisted 50 servicepersons and their families.
DISASTER SERVICES
When a fire, flood,or any disaster hits the Red Cross is right there to give a helping hand. The chapter refers and networks with other agencies to insure that the victim's needs are met. We serviced 14 single family fires. The total number of people assisted was 68.
This winter we opened two shelters. In February we served coffee and donuts to the Emergency Response volunteers at a tire fire in Pennsville. After the fire, we had 4 volunteers join our chapter in disaster services.
We also assisted 4 families with clean up kits after the Nor'easter in April. One family needed temporary housing because of the flooding situation.
