      DISASTER CLASSES


      The Salem County Chapter of the American Red Cross will hold disaster volunteer training sessions at chapter headquarters, 258 Johnson St, Carneys Point, NJ 08069. Sessions as shown below:

      TUESDAY, April 1, 2008 - 6:30 PM (approx 2.5 hrs) - Intro to Disaster Services & Fulfilling Our Mission: This is a prerequisite to all subsequent courses and MUST be taken before any further courses you want to attend.

      Tuesday, May 13, 2008 - 6:30 PM (approx 3 hrs)- Client Casework: Providing Emergency Assistance - This course is for volunteers who are interested in the skills and knowledge needed to conduct client interviews and provide emergency disaster assistance to clients.

      Saturday, May 17, 2008 - 8:30 AM to 4:00 PM - Health Services Response course : This is intended for volunteers with a professional license or certificate to practice as a CNA, EMT, LPN/LVN, PA, RN or MD and are interested in working in their local Red Cross chapter jurisdiction or to be deployed to a Red Cross disaster relief operation and function as health professionals within the Health Services Protocols.


      The cost for the course is FREE, but you do need to call chapter headquarters and pre-register, to attend.

      Any healthy individual aged 17 or older may participate in the free training. When training is completed, participants have the opportunity to join DSHR, the Red Cross Human Resource System that provides volunteers for national disasters.

      THE RUSHES RESTAURANT AND RED CROSS TEAM UP !

      are available at The Salem County American Red Cross office in Carneys Point, NJ for the cost of $40.00 each. This is a great way to try the restaurant and help support your local chapter. These make great graduation, birthday, anniversary gifts or employee incentive awards. They are also a great way to treat yourself - certificates are good Mon thru Thurs, at Rushes.       ALSO, when you eat at The Rushes Restaurant any Monday through Thursday, PLEASE TELL YOUR SERVER YOU ARE DINING FOR THE RED CROSS (you do not have to have a gift certificate to do this)- Rushes will donate a percentage of your food bill, to the local Red Cross office, just for doing this! It is another way to show your support for your local chapter and is very much appreciated!
